Warm and welcoming home environment

About Rumara

Steady hands behind every comfortable day

We started Rumara because families told us that coordinating daily life for an older relative was exhausting — not because they didn't care, but because no one had shown them a simpler way.

Our Story

How Rumara came to be

Rumara began in Kuala Lumpur in 2018 when our founder, Aishah Binti Nordin, found herself juggling a demanding job and the daily management of her grandmother's household in Bangsar. She kept a handwritten notebook of helpers, groceries, and routines — a system that worked, but only because she poured hours into it every week.

She noticed the same exhaustion in other families. Capable, caring adult children who wanted to do right by their parents — but who had no clear structure to follow and no one to coordinate the pieces.

Rumara was set up to fill that gap. Not to replace family care, but to organise it — so that the time families do spend with older relatives is genuinely comfortable rather than spent troubleshooting logistics.

What guides us

Dignity in every detail

How a home is arranged and how a day unfolds shapes how someone feels about themselves. We pay attention to those details.

Families stay informed

We keep communication clear and regular so that no family member feels in the dark about what is happening at home.

Less noise, more calm

We remove the logistical friction from home life — quietly and consistently — so families can focus on the relationship, not the to-do list.

How We Work

Our approach to quality

Every household we support is different. Our standards remain consistent.

Structured coordination

Each arrangement begins with a clear plan — task lists, contact schedules, and family preferences documented before a single visit takes place.

Household privacy

Information about the home, daily routines, and personal preferences stays within the coordination team and the family — shared only as needed.

Regular family check-ins

We build review conversations into every arrangement so families can raise questions, adjust priorities, and stay genuinely involved.

Respectful working relationships

We work with household helpers and service providers in a way that maintains trust and keeps the older adult's home running smoothly.

Clear written records

Task lists, grocery orders, and session notes are kept in an organised format that any family member can read and reference at any time.

Flexibility as standard

We understand that older adults' needs shift. Our arrangements are designed to adapt without complicated renegotiation.

Our Focus

Coordinating home life for older adults in Kuala Lumpur

Rumara works with families across Kuala Lumpur — particularly in Bangsar, Damansara, Petaling Jaya, and the broader Klang Valley — to bring steady, practical coordination into the homes of older adults. Our services cover three main areas: organising household tasks and helpers, guiding family members through comfortable everyday routines, and planning weekly meals with coordinated grocery delivery.

Families come to us at different points. Some are just beginning to take on more responsibility for an older parent and feel uncertain about where to start. Others have been managing things for years and are looking for a more organised, less exhausting approach. In both situations, what they most often need is not more effort — but better structure.

Our coordination work is built around the specific household, the older adult's preferences, and the family's own availability. We do not offer standardised packages that ignore the particularities of a real home. Instead, we spend time understanding how a household runs and then build coordination around that reality.

Over the years, Rumara has supported families managing households where older adults live alone, with a spouse, or with other family members. We have worked with households where English, Malay, and Mandarin are spoken — and we adapt our communication to whatever works best for each family.
